Three co-founders out of Sydney are building what they call the AI workforce. In January 2025 alone, 40,000 AI agents were created on their platform.
What it does
Relevance AI lets a non technical person build a team of AI agents on a visual canvas, or generate one from a text prompt. Think staff you assemble instead of recruit: agents that do research, qualify leads or handle back office work.
Who uses it
It is not a demo. Customers named by the company include Activision, the gaming giant behind Call of Duty, SafetyCulture and Qualified.
The team
The founders are Daniel Vassilev, Jacky Koh and Daniel Palmer. The team grew from 19 people in 2023 to more than 80, split between Sydney and San Francisco. A lot of humans for a company selling AI staff.
The raise
Relevance AI raised a US$24M Series B (about A$37M) led by Bessemer Venture Partners, one of the biggest names in US venture. King River Capital, Insight Partners and Peak XV came back in.
Their pitch, in their own words: a world where organisations are “limited only by their ideas, not their headcount”.
My read
The 40,000 number is agents created, not agents in daily use, so I would not read too much into it on its own. But the customer list is real. The next big Aussie software company might not sell you software. It might sell you staff.
